Another Powerball drawing and another drawing with no jackpot winner.
The Wednesday, Aug. 5, Powerball drawing came and went with no winning ticket, and the jackpot has now hit an estimated $856 million.
This jackpot has been growing for the last three months and has now moved into the eighth-highest Powerball jackpot in the game's history. To move up beyond this spot, this jackpot would need to hit more than $1 billion.
"The last time we saw a Powerball jackpot of this size was on Christmas Eve, with a $1.817 billion prize on the line," said Stephen Durrell, Powerball Product Group Chair and Kansas Lottery Executive Director.

Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, Aug. 5: 14-20-59-60-61 and the Powerball: 25. The Power Play is 2x.
There was no big winner in the Aug. 5 drawing, but a ticket out of Ohio won a $1 million prize, according to Powerball's website.
The Powerball jackpot has hit an estimated $856 million, with a $372 million lump cash value.
As we've seen in previous drawings, the jackpot can always go higher ahead of the next drawing.
The next Powerball drawing is on Saturday, Aug. 8, at approximately 10:59 p.m. ET/9:59 p.m. CT. Powerball has three drawings each week on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
The Powerball jackpot was last won on May 2 by two tickets, one in Florida and the other in Texas, that split a $20 million prize, according to powerball.com. Here are all the big winners from 2026, including a lucky ticket in North Carolina.
Jan. 21 - $209.3 million – North Carolina

Want to play Powerball but not quite sure how it works? Here are some things to know.
To play Powerball, you first select five white ball numbers. These five numbers will be between one and 69. Then, pick one "Powerball" or red ball number. This number will be between one and 26.
For an extra dollar, you may choose to "power play," which multiplies all non-grand prize winnings by a factor of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10.
If you match at least one number in the Powerball drawing, you win a prize.
