KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) -- Law enforcement officers with the Kinston Police Department arrested a La Grange woman on DWI charges.
On August 5, officers received a report involving reckless driving on Highway 258 South. Officers attempted to stop the car, but the driver turned left through a red light before entering a Hardee's parking lot. The car became disabled after stalling on a curb in the back of the parking lot.
The driver, 40-year-old Ashley Poole, reportedly refused to open the door or exit the car despite officers instructing her to do so. Eventually, officers broke a window to the car and forcibly removed Poole.
Poole was arrested and charged with driving while impaired, careless and reckless driving, failure to maintain lane control, open container, failure to stop at red light and resist/obstruct/delay a public officer.
Poole was taken to the Lenoir County Jail where she was not given a bond.
