A woman and a 10-year-old girl were killed in a car crash in Raisinville Township on Wednesday evening, Aug. 5.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, preliminary investigation reveals Amy Beason, 56, of Monroe, was driving a red 2025 Honda HR-V west on South Custer Road. The 10-year-old girl was in the car's front passenger seat. Beason came to a stop to turn into a private driveway on the south side of the road when she was struck in the rear by a white 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Dustin Prajzner, 38, of Dundee.
When the Honda was hit, the force of impact caused it to travel left-of-center, causing a head-on collision with a blue 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado was driven by Richard Palmer, 61, of Montgomery, Texas, who was accompanied by Lisa Palmer, 59, in the front passenger seat, and Emma Plamer, 18, and Samantha Palmer, 23, in the back seat.
After the crash, the Honda rotated clockwise, coming to rest facing southeast in a private driveway. The Silverado alsot rotated clockwise, coming to rest facing southwest on the eastbound shoulder of the road. The F-150 came to a controlled stop on the westbound shoulder of the road.
At the time of the crash, Beason and the 10-year-old girl weren't wearing their seatbelts. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Palmers were wearing their seatbelts. They and their passengers were transported to Toledo ProMedica Hospital, where they are listed in serious condition.
Prajzner was wearing his seatbelt. He was uninjured and released from the scene.
