A worker at Germany's Leipzig/Halle Airport who discovered a drone fitted with an explosive device on a runway had a very lucky escape, having kicked the device out of the air and brought it to the ground, dpa learned from security sources on Thursday.
According to the State Criminal Investigation Office of the state of Saxony, where the airport is located, the worker spotted the drone on the southern runway.
Security sources said it was located near a Ukrainian Antonov AN-124 Condor cargo aircraft.
Federal Police specialists then defused the explosive device.
