Commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck has recalled more than 131,000 Mercedes-Benz lorries worldwide.
The company, based near Stuttgart in south-western Germany, confirmed data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).
Corrosion on the contacts of an incorrectly installed chip on the battery could lead to heat build-up and even a fire. Consequently, the chip must be disconnected.
In Germany, 27,084 vehicles are potentially affected. The models concerned are the Actros, Arocs and E-Actros, produced between the end of March 2021 and the end of October 2025.
According to Daimler Truck, the chip is sealed with synthetic resin by the supplier. In isolated cases, it is reported that this sealing was carried out inadequately, which could facilitate corrosion.
"Daimler Truck AG is aware of only isolated incidents in connection with this matter and of no personal injuries," the company said.
