Sumner County Election results: Who won in the local contested races?

There was an unopposed race for Sumner County mayor Aug. 6.

Sumner County Mayor John C. Isbell was first elected in 2022, replacing Anthony Holt's 16-year run in the office. Isbell ran unopposed as the Republican incumbent.

Sumner County Sheriff Eric Craddock also ran unopposed as the Republican incumbent.

Craddock was appointed to the job in Aug. 2024 after longtime Sumner County Sheriff Roy "Sonny" Weatherford died at the age of 65 while attending the 2024 Sheriffs' Association Conference in Pigeon Forge earlier that month. Craddock was officially elected to office in Nov. 2024.

Twelve contested Sumner County Commission seats were up for election, along with the county clerk and five school board seats.

Unopposed in the general election were Kathryn Strong (R) for circuit court clerk, Cindy Williams (R) for trustee, Holly A. Hemmrich (R) for register of deeds and Toby Ellis (R) for road superintendent.

Thousands flocked to the polls to cast ballots on Election Day.

Sumner County has 142,493 registered voters and 27,264 of them, or just over 19%, voted in this election, according to the local election commission.

The Aug. 6 election results are unofficial until certified by the Sumner County Election Commission later in the month.

Here are the local race recaps, with all precincts reporting, including early and absentee votes:

Hayden James Escobar (I): 6,385

Barbara Conwell Crawford (D): 1,038
