Five people were taken to the hospital after the boat they were in crashed in the water off the North Shore of Massachusetts late Thursday night, officials said.
Emergency crews responding to a report of a boating accident in the area of the State Street Landing in Marblehead just after 11 p.m. learned a vessel had come completely out of the water and was resting atop Grays Rock, according to the Marblehead Fire Department.
Grays Rock is a coastal rock ledge and navigational hazard rising about 10 feet above sea level, located just northwest of Children's Island.
Local harbormasters had already transported two people to the State Street Landing, while firefighters entered the water and found three others stranded outside the vessel on Grays Rock.
The five hospitalized victims reportedly had injuries ranging from minor to serious.
There were no additional details immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation.
