British social media stars Josh & Jase have been at it again.
This time, they've learned the hard way that it's easier to get down Michigan's iconic sand dunes than it is to get back up them. They also tried some of the cherry pie that's made Traverse City famous, and went to the beach.
On Thursday, the dynamic duo confessed on Facebook that they underestimated the climb back up the dunes at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
"We said we'd made a huge mistake…," they said in a Facebook post. "This photo is the exact moment we realised there was no easy way back."
They also posted a video of the adventure on their YouTube channel.
"I'm in so much pain, I'm in agony," Joshua Cauldwell-Clarke said in the video, which shows him alone on the sand shortly after the sun set. "I'm in serious trouble."
Earlier in their trek, the other half of the team, Jason Riley, said: "In the U.K., we'd say we dropped a clanger."
But after the two reached the lake shore, they said the view was impressive.
"That's like the Mediterranean ocean," Riley said.
The video also shows the two trying to climb up a 450-foot sand bluff.
"Okay, we are struggling," Riley said. "Josh, you all right?"
Cauldwell-Clarke then complains of back pain. "Genuinely, like video aside, yeah, it's a laugh, I don't think I can do this," he said. "We're stuck."
He declares that he's struggling, and Riley continues to encourage him to keep climbing.
"This is easily one of the hardest things I'll ever endure as a human being on this planet Earth," Cauldwell-Clarke said.
But he and Riley persevere and ultimately reach the top.
"I feel like I ran a marathon, except I didn't raise any money for charity," Riley said.
Cauldwell-Clarke, breathing hard, said: "I hate this. I don't wish that on my worst enemy."
Josh and Jase apologized the day before for not posting new content. "We messed up bad and ended up in a horrible situation and massively underestimated a certain dune in Michigan," they explained in a Wednesday post.
Also on Thursday, the two posted about visiting the Grand Traverse Pie Company and trying its cherry pie. "This is why Michigan is known for its cherries…😳," they said.
In the video, Riley said: "You can't come to Traverse City and not try an authentic cherry pie."
Cauldwell-Clarke added: "One thing Americans do well is desserts. I'm excited."
Riley tried a slice of cherry pie. "Mm, tarty," he said after taking spooful. "Nice, flaky pastry."
Cauldwell-Clarke opted for an apple dumpling. "I'm not exaggerating when I say this: this is the best cooked pastry I've ever had in my life," he said. "And my grandma cooks good pastry. This is the best I've ever had."
Josh and Jase then posted a video about the items they picked up at a Meijer store for a day at the beach in Empire, Michigan.
They then returned to the Mackinac Bridge and crossed it to get to the Upper Peninsula.
"It looks even bigger," Cauldwell-Clarke said in the video, chronicling the journey.
The duo from Nottingham, England, visited Michigan in the winter and announced last month they were returning. They said they would stay in the state from July 24 through Aug. 17.
The pair have been sharing positive posts about the state's scenery and destinations they visit, from downtown Detroit to Saugatuck.
