A fire broke out on two vessels at Egypt's northern port of Damietta on Wednesday, including a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal and a storage vessel, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said.
The ministry said emergency response and firefighting teams brought the blaze under control in line with established emergency procedures. It added that no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately disclosed, while the relevant authorities were assessing the incident and its aftermath.
Earlier, port and maritime service provider Inchcape Shipping Services reported an explosion at an LNG terminal during cargo unloading operations. The company said the affected vessels were safely moved away from the port area but did not provide further details.
