A pair of pigs that escaped their pen caused damage to a commercial property lawn before officers could round them up and escort them back across a busy U.S. Highway 34 to their pen in west Loveland on Aug. 7.

The escaped pigs apparently crossed U.S. 34 and found themselves at Group Publishing at the intersection of Cascade Avenue and U.S. 34. There they damaged the grass lawn rooting for insects while city employees and bystanders tried to keep the pigs corralled until help arrived.

Loveland Police Department and NOCO Humane officers arrived, stopped traffic on U.S. 34 and, with lots of coaxing and prodding, escorted the pigs back across the highway to a pen from where officers believed the pigs escaped earlier that morning.

"This is my first time for pigs," said Naomi Chan, Loveland police community service officer. "This is interesting."
