Investigators are seeking a killer after a man was shot to death in Hesperia on Friday night, authorities said.

Reports of "shots fired" about 7:50 p.m. Aug. 7 first drew deputies to Hesperia Road and Yucca Street, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Jenny Smith.

Upon arrival, deputies "located an adult male with a gunshot wound," she said. Medical aid was provided, but the victim died at the scene. His identity was not yet released.

No further details, including a suspect description, were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.
