The tradition not only brings old neighbors together, but also new friendly faces to help celebrate and support each other while honoring Italian roots.
Organizers said festivals like this one are a chance for Erie to showcase its diverse mix of cultures and share it with others.
"Erie is a series of neighborhoods that were all ethnically settled," said Chairman of the festival Tim NeCastro. "Celebrating each of these heritages is really great, and Erie is such a great marketplace because its culture is so rich."
The festival continues throughout Saturday night and wraps Sunday evening.
