Tempe police responded Saturday afternoon to reports of gunfire south of Tempe Town Lake, where bullets struck a building and a vehicle near East Lemon Street and South Stanley Place.

The circumstances surrounding the Aug. 8 shooting remained under investigation, Tempe police spokesperson Officer Lindsey Fernandez said in an email.

Police had not identified a suspect or disclosed what type of weapon was used.

No one has been arrested, according to police.

Police warned of a heavy law enforcement presence in the area and urged the public to avoid the area.
