Connecticut state park in Milford closed due to police investigation, state says

Silver Sands State Park in Milford was closed due to a police investigation, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection reported at 5:42 p.m. Saturday in a post on X. 

DEEP did not immediately disclose what caused that investigation.

Previously, Millers Pond State Park in Haddam closed at about 3 p.m. Saturday because the parking lot reached capacity, DEEP also reported in a post on X. 

Four other state parks with beaches that were closed earlier in the week due to high bacteria levels following Monday's drenching rains have reopened, according to the DEEP website. 

The state beaches that have reopened are Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Silver Sands State Park in Milford, West Beach at Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic and Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, the DEEP website said.
