A car crashed into an intersection in Belmont during the overnight hours between last night and this morning.

While patrolling Grant Street, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle driving erratically. When the car did not stop, the officer did not pursue it.

The vehicle proceeded to crash into the intersection of Maple Street and Chestnut Street.

The driver was found trapped inside the car and initially thought to have moderate to life-threatening injuries. The individual was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where medical staff determined that the injuries were not life-threatening.

An investigation into this crash is active and ongoing. The driver is pending criminal charges.
