The bodies of five mountaineers who went missing in an avalanche in eastern Nepal in November have been recovered, Nepalese authorities announced on Monday.
They included two Nepalese mountain guides and three foreigners - a German, an Italian and a Canadian - the deputy police chief of Dolakha district Manoj Kumar Lama told dpa.
Lama corrected an earlier official statement that said five foreign mountaineers had gone missing. The accident occurred on the 5,630-meter-high Yalung Ri in eastern Nepal, near the border with Tibet.
The bodies were found below the summit on Thursday. The recovery operation had to be postponed because of poor weather. According to police, four bodies were taken to Kathmandu on Monday.
The body of a Nepalese mountain guide remained at a clinic in Dolakha so that it could be handed over to his family there.
The five were part of a group of 15 mountaineers who were caught in an avalanche last November while attempting to climb Yalung Ri.
At the time, the bodies of two Nepalese mountain guides were recovered, while eight other members of the group were rescued.
