A Columbia man is in custody following an alleged burglary Sunday morning, Aug. 9.
Joshua Allen Patrick, 38, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and stealing in connection with an incident about 11:45 a.m. in the 1200 block of Seventh Street.
Patrick is alleged to have stolen a fire extinguisher from a business and then used that to break the front door glass of a building and enter the business. Multiple witnesses identified Patrick, who was arrested outside the building after the alleged break-in.
There were no reported injuries, but there was damage to the door observed. Further court information was not yet available Monday morning, Aug. 10.
An early morning incident Sunday led to the arrest of another Columbia man.
Police were patrolling downtown Columbia when they heard shots fired at about 1 a.m. in the 800 block of East Walnut Street.
Tavan Eric Williams-Patrick, 20, was allegedly observed by officers holding a gun and attempting to place it on a sidewalk.
Williams-Patrick was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Further court information was not yet available Monday morning.
He was allegedly trying to leave the area on foot when officers arrested him. There are no known injuries or property damage.
