Toyota has issued a safety recall for approximately 508,000 model-year 2025–2026 Camry sedans in the United States due to a software flaw that can cause the instrument cluster display to remain blank upon startup.
The recall specifically targets Camry models equipped with the 7.0-inch digital combination meter display. Affected trims include:
Higher-tier XLE and XSE trims are excluded from this campaign, as they utilize a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster unaffected by this specific defect.
When starting the vehicle, a software error can prevent the 7.0-inch display panel from booting up, leaving the driver without a functional speedometer, fuel gauge, or warning indicators. Additionally, a blank display deprives the driver of visual turn signal feedback, hazard light status, and associated audible warning chimes, increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota dealers will update the software for the combination meter free of charge. Unlike some recent over-the-air software updates, this recall requires owners to schedule a physical appointment at an authorized dealership to reprogram the display module.
Official owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by early October 2026. Owners can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into Toyota's recall portal or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) database.
