Strong winds and heavy rains pelted Indiana on Tuesday as early reports from forecasters show a derecho - the equivalent of an inland hurricane - likely swept over the state.

Hoosiers east of Indianapolis were drenched in the storm. Forecasters reported New Castle received more than 7 inches of rain in a 24-hour period.

More ongoing storms Wednesday are expected across Indiana as Hoosiers brace for potential heavy flooding.
