Ascension Parish Government announced the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development assumed responsibility for mowing and vegetation management along state-maintained highways in the parish.
According to a parish government news release, citizens reporting maintenance concerns along state highways should contact the local parish DOTD maintenance unit at (225) 675-5315.
As noted in the release, DOTD personnel will log each request, assess the location and schedule work on a priority basis.
DOTD reported that contracts to mow state highways are in the final administration stages and that routine mowing will begin after the agreements are finalized.
"Directing residents to the local DOTD unit eliminates unnecessary steps and helps ensure state highway concerns are addressed as efficiently as possible," Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment said in the release.
To report concerns involving parish-maintained roads, citizens can contact the parish's service center at (225) 450-1200.
