JACK COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — A suspect accused of stealing hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel from businesses and truck operators in Jack County was arrested in Fort Worth, authorities said.
The Jack County Sheriff's Office and Jacksboro Police Department have been working together to investigate a series of fuel thefts involving roughly 900 gallons of diesel. Authorities said the fuel was stolen from a local business and two independent truck operators.
According to the Jack County Sheriff's Office, investigators identified a suspect during the investigation. The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division then obtained a warrant authorizing investigators to place a tracking device on the suspect's vehicle.
Investigators with the Sheriff's Office and Jacksboro Police Department traveled to Fort Worth to locate the vehicle and install the tracking device.
However, before investigators could place the tracker, Fort Worth police officers located the suspect with what authorities described as another load of diesel fuel and arrested him.
Jack County and Jacksboro investigators later interviewed the suspect in Fort Worth. According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the Jack County fuel thefts.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect's identity.
The Jack County Sheriff's Office said additional information about the suspect will be released after the appropriate warrant has been obtained and served.
The investigation remains ongoing.
