One person is dead and four others are injured following a shooting at Lexington's Charles Young Park Aug. 15.

The Lexington Police Department first responded at 6:48 p.m. to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Midland Avenue. Five people injured were located and taken to a local hospital. One person was pronounced dead at the hospital Aug. 15.

Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said a 4-year old, 14-year old and two adults were among those shot, according to a report from the Lexington Herald-Leader. The person who died has not yet been identified by officials.

Lexington Police are investigating the shooting. Weathers did not identify a suspect in his Aug. 15 statement, but he said there is no active threat to the public.
