A Vietnam Airlines plane made a return to Munich Airport after experiencing problems during take-off, with damage subsequently found to its tyres and landing gear, an airport spokesman said.
Investigations into the incident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, are under way. The cause was initially unclear, and a representative of Germany's Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation has been called in.
The Hanoi-bound plane took an unusually long time to become airborne while departing from the airport's southern runway, according to the spokesman. Shortly afterwards, the Boeing 787 turned back and landed on the northern runway.
The passengers were uninjured and taken by bus to the airport terminal.
The aircraft, which was unable to taxi under its own power following the landing, was stabilized and later towed to a hangar.
Debris from the tyres was collected and damage to the runway repaired, with clean-up operations continuing into the night.
The northern runway was temporarily blocked by the aircraft, forcing take-offs and landings to use the airport's other runway.
Normal flight operations resumed on Sunday morning, the spokesman said.
