A 40-year-old Lind man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after allegedly breaking into cars in a fast-food parking lot in Moses Lake and fleeing into a nearby business complex, where local workers detained him for police.
According to the Moses Lake Police Department, officers responded at around 2:30 p.m. to reports of a man breaking into vehicles at a Jack in the Box parking lot. When an officer arrived at the scene, Ivan Montejano took off running toward a nearby business area.
According to the Moses Lake Police Department, Montejano ducked into a commercial complex near Wheeler Road and Block Street and briefly evaded responding officers. He ran around a fenced lot while officers were positioned on the opposite side of the fence.
Employees inside the business complex pursued Montejano back into an interior storage room. Two workers removed him from the room and held him on the ground until officers entered the building to take him into custody.
Montejano was taken to Samaritan Hospital for treatment before being booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of vehicle prowling, resisting arrest, and outstanding felony warrants.
Prosecutors are reviewing the case to determine whether additional charges will be filed against Montejano.
