Federal Judge Rejects Tohono O'odham Nation's Bid to Halt Border Wall Construction
A federal judge has denied the Tohono O'odham Nation's request to temporarily halt construction of a border wall on its reservation, prompting Nation leaders to consider their next legal options in a case centered on tribal sovereignty, sacred sites and the federal government's authority to build border infrastructure on Indian Country.
Tohono O'odham Nation Chairman Verlon M. Jose said the Nation strongly disagrees with the ruling and will consider "all possible options" moving forward.
"Too many critical issues were not adequately addressed, such as inevitable impacts construction will have on the Nation's land and the permanent destruction of sacred sites," Jose said in a statement Friday. "The Nation will consider all possible options for moving forward, as this issue is simply too important to the O'odham."

Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Recalled Eggs Sickens Dozens Across 17 States
A multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to recalled shell eggs has sickened dozens of people, prompting federal health officials to warn consumers not to eat eggs covered by the recall.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and state health departments are investigating illnesses linked to shell eggs produced and distributed by Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. Federal officials say epidemiological, laboratory and traceback evidence indicates the eggs may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis.
The company recalled approximately 1.59 million dozen eggs, including white shell eggs and brown cage-free eggs produced at farms in Texas between June 6 and July 3, 2026. The recalled eggs were sold under several brand names, including Country Morning, Cal-Maine Sunups, Brookshire's, Simple Truth
