A New Hanover County superstore is increasing its footprint to make way for new services.

The Monkey Junction Walmart located at 5135 Carolina Beach Road is set to expand, according to site plans submitted to the county. The retailer plans to add 9,441 square feet to the existing building.

The new space will be used for online pickup and delivery services, according to a building permit application. Several improvements will be made to the site, including a new sidewalk, delivery doors, overhead canopy and a variety of signage.

A variety of big-name businesses operate locations in the shopping center, including Lowe's Home Improvement, Lowes Foods, and PetSmart.
