Mahindra has unveiled its Global Pik Up, a model that will reach Indian buyers under the Scorpio Lifestyler name and be sold abroad as the Mahindra Lifestyler.

The truck was previewed as a concept vehicle in Cape Town in August 2023.

In India, the Scorpio Lifestyler is due to go on sale by April 2027, with a starting ex-showroom price below Rs1.97m ($20,699).

"Its arrival in India marks the beginning of a new chapter for the lifestyle pickup category, bringing a world-class product to a new generation of customers with diverse aspirations and a desire to embrace every opportunity that lies ahead", the company said in a statement.

Outside India, the Lifestyler will be positioned in the midsize lifestyle pickup category across Australia and New Zealand, South Africa and other African markets, the Middle East, and Latin America.

The design work was carried out at the Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai, with engineering development handled at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.

The vehicle rides on the company's newest body-on-frame platform and draws on customer feedback gathered from multiple international markets, according to Mahindra.

Three trims, Valley, Reef, and Trail, were shown alongside the launch, each featuring distinct designs inspired by estates, oceans, and sandscapes for various lifestyles.

Mahindra automotive division CEO Nalinikanth Gollagunta said: "The Scorpio Lifestyler represents the convergence of global engineering and evolving customer aspirations.

"As we prepare for its India launch, we see a growing appetite among customers for a vehicle that delivers authentic capability without compromising on technology, safety, comfort or everyday usability."

Mahindra confirmed in February that it plans to invest Rs1.96bn to expand Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.

The company said the expansion – covering additional R&D and testing space – is intended to grow its capacity for vehicle design, product engineering and future technology work.

In the same month, Mahindra selected Mobileye to supply advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) for at least six upcoming vehicles, with manufacturing due to begin in 2027.
