During a press conference on Monday, the Monroe Police Department said the man shot by one of their officers will likely not survive.
Police say it happened around 10 Sunday night on Alda Drive after someone called to report a suspicious person attempting to break into their home.

When officers arrived on scene, they say the man had a gun and pointed it at an officer. Police say he was told to drop it, and an officer shot him.
At the scene, Channel 9 was able to see a bike in the middle of the street and evidence markers nearby.
No officers were injured in the shooting, and the community is not in danger, officials said.
Investigators with the Monroe Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation remained on scene for around six hours overnight.
The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation, which police say is standard procedure.
Channel 9 is asking for more information about the man who was shot.
