Russia and Ukraine have once again exchanged prisoners of war, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday.
The ministry announced that 103 Russian soldiers had returned from Ukrainian captivity. In return, Russia handed over the same number of Ukrainian soldiers.
There was initially no confirmation from the Ukrainian side. The warring parties have previously exchanged prisoners and the remains of fallen soldiers on several occasions.
The released Russians are currently in neighbouring Belarus, where exchanged soldiers have previously received initial medical and psychological care.
The Ministry in Moscow said that the United Arab Emirates had once again acted as a mediator.
Russia has now been waging war against Ukraine for four and a half years. Both sides have since released thousands of war prisoners.
