Bramble and Stem, a local flower shop, now has a boarded-up door where the owner, Katherine Taylor, says the thieves got in.

"It's obviously such an intrusive experience to go through and you feel really violated," said Taylor.

City Barrel Pizza down the road also told FOX4 they were broken into Tuesday. They say the thieves made it inside without breaking the windows and took off with some cash.

"It's sad situation, you know, that that person clearly, had some needs," said James Arcano, City Barrel general manager. "Hope our few dollars in change were able to help."

Although they are left picking up the pieces, both Taylor and Arcano say there has been one positive and that's the community support.

"We also had several guests last night that came in and mentioned, 'Oh, we saw your Facebook post about getting broken into, and we wanted to come out and support.' So, the local community is coming together and being very supportive," said Arcano.

"Unfortunately, a lot of shop owners go through something like this. So, you know, it's just turning around and putting a smile on your face and just continuing to do good," said Taylor.

FOX4 has reached out to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) who say they have not identified suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
