SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR) — Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies say they were not pursuing a car when it barrelled through Washington Square Park Wednesday night, Aug 19.
People at the scene said a big group of adults and kids were playing soccer at the time of the incident, when the group saw the car coming their way.

"Out of nowhere, we hear the car coming over here," said Mustafa Almohammad, who said he watched the car come through.
Almohammad said that's when the group scattered to avoid the car coming towards them. He said a child as young as ten years old was among those who had to run to avoid the oncoming car.
A broken sign and pieces of debris scattered around the park were left behind after the incident.

NewsChannel 9 reached out to the Syracuse Police Department and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office for further comment.
