Monroe police arrested a man wanted on a felony assault warrant early on after chasing down his car and then running after him through a field.
According to the Monroe Police Department, on July 25, officers attempted to pull over a vehicle after observing what they believed to be an order violation in progress. When the driver refused to stop, Monroe officers used a GPS tracking device to monitor the car's location while maintaining a safe distance.
When the car stopped, the driver jumped off and ran into a nearby field. Monroe police deployed K9 Thor, who tracked the man until he surrendered a short time later "without further incident."
Authorities booked the suspect into the Snohomish County Jail on an outstanding felony Department of Corrections warrant for second-degree assault. Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be referred.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office and the Snohomish Police Department assisted the Monroe Police Department during the pursuit and arrest.
