A police drone helped officers track and arrest two juveniles accused of opening fire on a passing driver in San Rafael, authorities said.
The driver was not injured in the shooting, which was reported shortly before 7:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Irwin Street, according to the San Rafael Police Department.
Callers gave dispatchers descriptions of two suspects, and a department drone arrived within minutes and began searching the area, police said.
The drone spotted two people running from Duffy Place, behind a building and onto Andersen Drive, according to police. The drone's operator directed officers to their location, where both were detained without incident.
Officers also recovered a handgun that police said was used in the shooting.
Investigators said the driver had been traveling along Irwin Street when the two suspects suddenly fired. No motive was provided.
The juveniles, whose ages and identities were not released, were booked into Marin Juvenile Hall on suspicion of several felony firearm offenses.
