ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A St. Louis man was found guilty of criminal charges, including murder, in the death of a woman who broke up with him to end a "troubled relationship," prosecutors say.
A jury recently convicted Darryl Greenlee of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of Shelia Mills last year, according to St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office news release Friday.
Mills was killed on Aug. 16, 2025 in the city of Northwoods, Missouri, just one day after she sent a text message indicating she was breaking up with Greenlee, according to previous FOX 2 reports.
Investigators say the victim's daughter contacted police and asked for a welfare check for her mother when she could not reach here. A short time later, officers found Mills deceased inside the home with apparent gunshot injuries.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Greenlee forced his way into Mills' home, while a co-conspirator also left the home with Mills' debit card to withdrew money from an ATM. Prosecutors determined that Greenlee and Mills were in a "troubled relationship" with Mills deciding to end it.
After a weeklong trial, jurors convicted Greenlee of first-degree murder and armed criminal action, but acquitted him of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary charges.
With a first-degree murder conviction, Greenlee could face up to life behind bars without parole. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23, 2026.
