Brunson was found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Clayton County police responded to a person-down call on May 19, 2021. Officers found the victim unresponsive on a porch stoop with a gunshot wound to his neck.
While officers were investigating, they also attempted to evacuate the townhomes because of a fire. Brunson, who lived at the home where the victim was found, refused to come outside and was eventually removed by a SWAT team.

Prosecutors said the victim and Brunson were neighbors. Investigators searching Brunson's home found blood spatter, a spent shell casing, a projectile and a handgun soaking in a cooler of bleach.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation later determined the shell casing matched the handgun and found gunshot residue on Brunson, according to prosecutors.
Brunson maintained his innocence, but the jury found him guilty on all counts.
Senior Judge Linda Cowen sentenced Brunson to life in prison without the possibility of parole, followed by a consecutive 10-year sentence.
