VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Virginia Beach officials responded to a report of a boat in distress near the Lesnar Bridge Sunday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched at 4:28 p.m., with the first units arriving on scene at 4:36 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a 40 foot fishing vessel taking on water.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department utilized pumps to keep the vessel afloat while the Coast Guard shuttled it back to Little Creek.

Six people were on board at time of the incident. There were no reported injuries.

We are awaiting further information on the rescue from the Police Department and the Coast Guard.
