Athens-Clarke police were continuing Monday to investigate a reported sexual assault on a University of Georgia student that occurred Friday night in downtown Athens.
Police Lt. Katie Jenkins said Monday that the reported assault occurred in the area of City Hall, but she didn't have information on which side of the building the assault occurred.

Police learned of the assault after the woman went to a hospital, Jenkins said. The victim did not know the assailant, she said.
Police identified a person of interest, who was questioned, but wasn't called a suspect, Jenkins said.
The department's Real Time Crime Center is involved in the investigation and is reviewing surveillance cameras from downtown, she said.
SafeD Athens, a nonprofit parent organization involved with student safety, issued a statement on its Facebook page cautioning students about the importance of having a personal safety strategy plan even when off campus.
"Some of these strategies include always traveling in groups when possible, always being aware of your surroundings, traveling in well-lit areas when possible, and if the choice is made to consume alcohol, consuming in a responsible and moderate manner," the organization reported.
