(FOX40.COM) — Interstate 5 reopened just before midnight after it was closed in both directions for more than an hour as first responders handled a mental health emergency.
A little after 10 p.m. on Thursday night, I-5 was shut down northbound at U.S. Highway 50 and southbound at Richards Boulevard, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson told FOX40.

The closure was prompted by what the spokesperson described as a "mental health emergency" involving a pedestrian on the R Street pedestrian overpass.
More than an hour later, at 11:3p p.m., the highway patrol announced the highway had reopened in both directions.
