The Central Ohio Transit Authority is hosting an open house meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25, to educate the public about a new bus route connecting Hilliard and Ohio State University, and the authority's plans to split a major bus route and extend part of it to Dublin.
Attendees at the meeting, which will occur from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Bob Crane Community Center in Upper Arlington, will be able to learn about COTA's new Line 30 and its changes to Line 1 and speak to staff before the new routes begin Sept. 7, according to a COTA press release.
The new Line 30 will run through downtown Columbus, Ohio State University, Upper Arlington and Hilliard, and will run every 30 minutes, seven days a week, according to COTA.
The transit authority also plans to split the existing Line 1 into two routes, Line 1 Kenny and Line 1 Livingston, and extend Line 1 Kenny from Carriage Place to Ohio State Outpatient Care Dublin. Currently, Line 1 runs from OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital to COTA's Reynoldsburg Park and Ride. After Sept. 7, COTA will split Line 1 in downtown Columbus, with Line 1 Kenny going north and Line 1 Livingston going south and east.
Both Line 1 routes will run every 15 minutes with the exception of the Carriage Place to Dublin stretch of Line 1 Kenny, which will run every 30 minutes, according to COTA.
Line 30 is a result of the LinkUS initiative, COTA's $8 billion plan to revamp and expand central Ohio's public transit system, and community feedback, according to the release.
