Last year, IndyStar's politics team embarked on a statewide reporting tour to hear from Hoosiers outside of our Central Indiana bubble about the issues most important to them.
We got feedback from people in southern Indiana who felt cut off from the rest of the state, communities that were grappling with the realities of an influx of immigrants and counties in which major political realignments had occurred. The comments the team heard the most were centered on the dramatic impact officials said the state's property tax overhaul has had on local governments.
The tour was so enlightening that we're back for a second year. The goal is to better understand the issues driving voters so our team can more thoroughly cover this election cycle for the whole state.
Expect to see either of our political reporters Marissa Meador or Kayla Dwyer, as well as one of our visual journalists. I'll also be tagging along for a couple of stops.
IndyStar will be visiting these counties.
