EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- The Samuel Huggler trial continues with testimony from the man police say Huggler hired to shoot at his family in 202 which left his 18-year-old sister Olivia Huggler dead.
On Tuesday, that shooter testified. It's been nearly five years since a shooting on Kirkwood Drive left one person dead.
Daniel Alvey pleaded guilty to the shooting in 2023, but claims he was hired by the victim's brother, Samuel Huggler, to commit the murder. During Huggler's trial, Alvey says he idolized him and Alvey says Huggler had a bad relationship with one of his brothers.
Because he was in debt to Huggler, Alvey agreed to commit the shooting after Huggler pitched the idea to him multiple times. Alvey tells the court he was instructed to not only kill the brother but any other witnesses as well.
He says Hugger gave him the firearm used in the shooting and provided him with tips on how to get away with it. Hugler's trial is still underway.
Alvey's testimony was part of a plea deal he took in 2023 and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
