Residents will have a chance to pick up free clothing and donate gently used items during a community clothing swap planned for Aug. 15 at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Bellville.
The event will run from 1-4 p.m. at 25 Church St., according to a community announcement. Organizers said the clothing swap is open to the public and does not require a fee to participate.
Community members may browse available items and take clothing they can use. Donations of clean, gently used clothing also will be accepted throughout the event between 1-4 p.m.
Organizers said the swap is intended to give residents another way to share usable clothing while reducing textile waste.
"Our goal is to create an event that benefits both our community and the environment," said the Community Call to Action Team. "A clothing swap helps keep usable clothing out of landfills while making clothing accessible to anyone who needs it."
The Community Call to Action Team said everyone is welcome to attend, whether they are bringing clothing to donate, searching for items to take home or supporting a sustainability-focused community effort, according to the announcement
