From peanut butter to peanut brittle, Georgia's beloved crop is enjoyed in a variety of ways. Do you have the next great adaptation?
Recently, the Georgia Peanuts Commission unveiled its Georgia Peanut Innovation Award recognizing the most original peanut application in a new food product concept. It can be for human or animal consumption, and it can be a prototype or something already being produced. However, if it's already on the market, it has to be less than a year old.
Entry is free but limited to one concept per participant. All submissions are due by Aug. 20. Finalists will be announced on Sept. 15 and notified via email. Each finalist will be asked to submit 5 product samples via registered mail by Oct. 1.
According to the Georgia Farm Bureau, the award and $10,000 cash prize will be presented to the winner by Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper and GPC Chairman Donald Chase at the Sunbelt Ag Expo on Oct. 22.

According to the USDA, Georgia produces more than five times the amount of peanuts than any other state, with just under 3 billion pounds in 2022. The runner-ups are Alabama and Florida which produced around 500 million pounds.
