MUNCIE, IN — A federal major disaster declaration has been officially approved from the recent flooding that affected Delaware County and surrounding counties.
Cory Kissick, director of the Delaware County Emergency Management Agency, called the declaration — signed on Tuesday, Aug. 25, by President Trump — "a significant step forward in the recovery process and will allow federal disaster assistance and additional recovery resources to become available."
"We are currently awaiting additional information from FEMA and our partners with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security regarding available assistance, eligibility requirements, and the application process," Kissick said in a news release.

"Recovery takes time, but this declaration represents an important step toward getting additional assistance to our community," he said.
