Back-to-school season is here, which means school drop-offs also are back.
AMFM Healthcare released its list of "America's Most Stressful School Run Hotspots," featuring 128 locations ranked most to least stressful for dropping off students. AMFM surveyed parents across the U.S. to identify where the school run causes the most stress, the factors making certain journeys particularly difficult and how the daily rush can affect parents' mental wellbeing.
Three Connecticut locations were named to the list. Springdale in Stamford was named to No. 25 on the list.
"Hope Street can become a real pinch point during the morning school run, particularly as parents, buses and commuters all converge on the same stretch at roughly the same time," AMFM Healthcare said about Springdale. "Traffic can bottleneck quickly around busier junctions and school access points, leaving families inching forward while watching the clock. For parents trying to make drop-off and still get to work on time, a relatively short journey can easily become one of the more stressful parts of the morning."
Westville in New Haven was named No. 67, and West Hartford Center in West Hartford was listed at No. 99.
The top three most stressful school drop-off locations in the U.S. are Park Slope in Brooklyn at No. 1, the Upper East Side in New York City at No. 2 and Katy in Houston at No. 3.
AMFM Healthcare's study was conducted on Cherry Signals earlier this month among 3,044 U.S. parents with school-aged children.
Respondents also were asked to identify the specific reasons that school drop-offs caused them the greatest levels of stress. Parents listed several frustrations with school drop-offs, including traffic congestion, fear of being late, unsafe driving from other parents, children arguing or refusing to cooperate and more.
Nearly 4 in 10 parents said school drop-offs leave them stressed or overwhelmed either every school day or several times a week, according to AMFM Healthcare's study.
