Fresh off opening its 2,000 store nationwide this July, Five Below is expanding once more inside the Alamo City with its 16th location in San Antonio opening this Friday, August 28.
The brand, which was developed by two friends in 2002 in Pennsylvania, focuses on extreme value products and fun "high-quality products loved by the kid and the kid in all of us," announced the grand opening of its 16th store on August 21. The grand opening on Friday, August 28 is set to feature "unreal deals, activities, trivia" and freebies. A limited number of guests will receive a free drawstring bag, while supplies last.
The location at 4847 W. Commerce St. replaces a dental office, and it received a $225,000 renovation to the 8,776-square-foot space earlier this year with state filings showing permits filed in early January.
For the unfamiliar shopper, Five Below showcases deals varying from $1 to $5 with occasional items like tech and furniture in the above-$5 range.
The San Antonio opening isn't the only opening for the brand this week, either. Store openings are also slated Rock Springs, Wyoming and Swansea, Massachusetts this Friday as well.
The brand has been steadily increasing their footprint across the city with a Balcones Heights opening in September 2024, and another the year before it on the city's Eastside.
Five Below's upcoming quarterly earnings call is slated for September 2, but the first quarter showed a net sales increase by 32.5% to $1,285.6 million from $970.5 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2025; comparable sales increase by 22.7%. The brand opened 49 stores in the first quarter of the year so expect more to come if pacing holds.
