Sometimes reality looks exactly like a glitch in a video game. A wild new piece of surveillance footage out of Brazil is going viral after capturing a car hitting an embankment, pulling off a flawless mid-air barrel roll, landing on all four wheels, and simply continuing down the road as if absolutely nothing happened.
In a 22-second clip recently highlighted by news.com.au, a white hatchback is seen speeding around a downhill curve at night. The driver clearly misjudges the corner, causing the vehicle to slide wide and strike the steep concrete embankment on the side of the road.
Instead of violently crashing into a wall or wrapping around a utility pole, the momentum and the exact angle of the embankment act like a perfect stunt ramp.
The car is launched completely airborne, completing a full 360-degree lateral barrel roll before slamming back down onto the pavement in a shower of sparks. Incredibly, the momentum keeps the car rolling forward on its wheels. Without even hitting the brakes to assess the damage, the driver simply hits the gas and disappears out of the frame, leaving a completely empty street behind them.
You would think surviving a Hollywood-level stunt crash without a scratch would be the ultimate getaway story. But while the driver managed to cheat death, they couldn't cheat the local traffic authorities.
According to local Brazilian reporting from Record News, the unbelievable incident occurred around 12:30 AM in the city of Blumenau, located in the state of Santa Catarina. Firefighters and authorities were eventually able to track down the vehicle and confirmed that the driver miraculously walked away from the violent crash completely unharmed.
However, the driver's luck immediately ran out. Local police reportedly impounded the battered hatchback on the spot—not specifically because of the dangerous stunt driving, but because the vehicle was operating with an irregular registration.
It is the ultimate irony for a viral video: you might be able to temporarily defeat the laws of physics, but you can never escape the DMV.
