A single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 75 in Marion County killed one person on July 31, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

What happened? Troopers said a pickup truck driven by a 42-year-old Eustis man was traveling southbound on I-75 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed all three southbound lanes and struck a guardrail.
The truck overturned, ejecting the driver, and came to rest in the outside northbound lane. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, according to FHP. The roadway was blocked and traffic was diverted around the crash site.
July has been a deadly month on area roadways. Friday's fatality was the 10th traffic death investigated by FHP this month. By comparison, eight people were killed in traffic crashes during July 2025.
Records show troopers had investigated 42 traffic deaths by this point in 2025. As of Friday morning, that number had risen to 47. Troopers said 73 people died in traffic crashes in 2025.
