EAST HAMPTON - A Griswold woman died in a Thursday afternoon crash that temporarily shut down state Route 16 in East Hampton. 

Jaime Brouwer, 49, of Jewett City, died on the scene of the collision, East Hampton police said Friday morning. Another person was seriously injured in the crash, which involved a motorcycle and a dump truck, according to police.

Emergency response teams from East Hampton and Colchester responded to the scene of the crash at 4:21 p.m. near the intersection of Gulf Road and Route 16 near the Colchester line, police said in a news release.

According to police, Brouwer and another individual were on the motorcycle when the crash occurred.

Two Life Star medical helicopter crews also responded to the scene, police said. The second individual was transported via helicopter to Hartford Hospital, and officials said his condition was unknown as of Friday. 

The East Hampton Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident, officials said.
