The U.S. Department of the Treasury said it will focus on economic growth at the upcoming G20 Finance Ministerial meeting.

In an interview with Breitbart, a Treasury official contrasted the approach with that of the Biden administration, saying it was too focused on carbon emissions and climate change.

"Growth is the strongest foundation for durable prosperity and that is why promoting stronger economic growth is at the core of America's agenda for the G20," the official told Breitbart.

"Under President [Donald] Trump, we are laser-focused on promoting a strong economy, both in the U.S. and globally," the official added. "And the G20 is a critical forum for addressing shared challenges and opportunities in the global economy"

The administration also plans to highlight provisions in the Working Families Tax Cut, including full expensing for business investment and research and development, streamlined regulations and permitting, and reductions in discretionary spending.

"As a result, business investment rose roughly 12% in the first three quarters of 2025, and real GDP is growing at a 2.1% annualized rate in Q1 2026," an official told Breitbart News.

Finance ministers and central bank governors from the leading rich and developing nations are due to convene in Asheville, North Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday.

Their talks are the first of several key ministerial meetings this year, setting the stage for a G20 leaders' summit Trump will host in December in Florida.

The G20 comprises 19 nations plus the European Union and the African Union. It was established in the wake of the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis to boost global economic and financial stability.
